I am DJ Thee Curator and I am happy to be your DJ!

Late to the Party blends Garage Rock, New Wave, Punk, Post Punk, Art Rock, Doom Metal, Psychedelic, and Noise. I jump between decades and genres. Every show will have a few harsh contrasts, juxtaposing the songs’ emotional effects. Most importantly, my show always utilizes KTUH’s vinyl and CD collection, highlighting fifty years of material history.

My radio personality is tongue and cheek “College Radio.” I will fiddle with the speeds of a song, let a record skip play a few moments, and giggle. This controlled chaos humanizes the air waves in a time where algorithms and pre recorded robotic shows have taken over Radio. I invite listeners to “hang out” and listen to music with me, versus serving them a contrived production. I describe album art, read matrix and liner notes, and drop a few little historic facts too. Although organic in nature, I still abide by the traffic logs, FCC rules, etc minimizing mistakes.

I hosted undergraduate and graduate Art students from UH, visiting Artists, and active members of the Honolulu Art Scene. I enjoy providing students with the opportunity to broadcast their work beyond the walls of the department. I try to act as a liaison between UH and broader communities. KTUH has always been a springboard for local musicians and organizers. I continue to remain friends with many alumni DJ’s, while recruiting new talent.
