Museum Education

My primary teaching strategy is to allow children to be themselves. It is important to show them that they do not have to express joy, beauty, or perfection, but to be who they are. It is OK to cry as much as it is to be goofy.

My lesson plans challenge conventional age divisions and incorporate contemporary practices while remaining accessible.

I lead my classrooms with gentle authority, respect, and fun.

Honolulu Museum of Art

  • See Art/Make Art

Developed and executed Art activities complimenting docent led tours of the education focused exhibits at Spalding House. Field trips were scheduled daily for Pre-K through twelfth grade, encompassing public, private, charter, and homeschool groups from all over Oahu and Neighbor Islands.

  • Art Camp at Spalding House

Created daily, weekly, and Summer long lesson plans for ages five through ten surveying sculpture, acrylic painting, collage, performance, Relational Aesthetics, and printmaking. Lessons incorporated Spalding House’s exhibits, gardens, and permanent collections. End of Summer Exhibitions were curated and displayed in the Museum Cafe.

Brought supplies and lesson plans weekly to school classrooms without Art programs.

  • Young Artist Classes

Saturday morning introduction to Art techniques for ages six to eight.

  • Family Sunday Art Activity Leader

Worked with a team of teaching artists designing, prepping, and led thematic family activities
